Poor thing...

I keep finding all these bowls that used to be colored. Poor things. Am I the only one who sees this quite often?

  1. No I see it too - and it breaks my heart every time. Seriously, were they scrubbed with a brillo pad and then placed in the dishwasher!?!

  2. You could have bought it and listed it on ebay as "good, vintage condition" and then charge $20+ shipping for it. :)

  3. Ooh, poor bowl! It was loved. I see bowls like that often too and wonder if people actually buy them.

  4. I see these and the thrifts still put large prices on them...crazy. Dishwasher just ruined many a good piece of Pyrex.

  5. Yes! It especially hurts when I can tell, but just barely, that it was an uncommon pattern. I just saw one that used to be solid turquoise one last week. That one hurt...

You are absolutely right Wendy! I've seen that a lot on eBay and even occasionally Etsy lately. Ridiculous!

  6. Oh yeah, I find those ALL the time. And like a lot of other people, I'm horrified at the prices put on these poor little bowls. It does make me especially sad if I can tell it's a pattern or color I really really want...torture! :(

  7. I see them way too often, and cringe when I do! So far the ones I've seen around here haven't been outrageously priced. Several months ago, my son bought me one just like the one in your picture for $1....said he felt sorry for it, lol!! I use it for storage in my cabinet.

  8. LOL, Wendy! I saw one on Ebay that was really bad looking and they called it "marbled" Pyrex. Crazy. If only people knew how to care for these things.

  9. I saw a set of three pink mixing bowls on ebay the other day. They were listed as "light pink." Yeah, light because most of the pink had been worn away. And yet the price was as if they were in mint condition. I hope no one falls for it and buys them.

  11. Wendy - I saw those, LOL.

It's unfortunate that they look like that, but I guess they served their purpose. Just imagine how beautiful they must have looked preparing & serving families for many, many years on a weekly or even daily basis for years on end.

It's just sad when you see them priced so high at the thrifts!
