Hopefully, this is the BEFORE shot. I need to rearrange and move some of my "treasures" around. My non pyrex friends are amazed with my "talent" of being able to site the name of the pattern and the year it was introduced. I had been looking for a cabinet to showcase my "wares" and discovered this curio at a yard sale. It has the great "tiger" striped wood. All of the shelves, glass, and hardware was in pristine shape. The lady did not want it because it was "old". It was a steal for me and looks GREAT in my living room. Why not? I enjoy getting to see my favorite pieces each day. Plus, it is a conversation starter, for sure!

Questions- How do you arrange your Pyrex? Does anyone else have it in the living area like me?

I've been more selective with my pieces lately
turns out you can only stack so high
however, when a really special piece appears for a great price
I will not leave it behind
and it looks great sitting with my midnight bloom
happy hunting this weekend
and for those of us in the u.s.
enjoy memorial day!

50 Things in Pyrexia

I am working on a class project where I have to draw 100 things. I decided to use my obsession with Pyrex as a chance to improve my illustration skills. I am half way there. I know they aren't perfect, but I love how they are turning out. I am using a combination of tools, from hand drawing, to using the pen tool in illustrator, to image tracing, depending on the piece and the design. Oh and the 100 things need to be 1inch by 1inch, so these are greatly reduced in size and not scaled for each piece. I think I will at least print them at 2inchX2inch when I frame them in my house. :) Enjoy!

Hello All,

Wow!  I woke up yesterday morning with 25 emails!  Thanks for all the interest!!

I have updated the album.... some of you I might have emailed back letting you know that an item had sold... but I had a few people who had to back out of the sale or decided they didn't want it after the shipping costs.

Lovin' The Sales & Flea Markets

I still haven't been having much luck lately at the thrift stores in regards to scoring Pyrex.  Luckily the awesome Spring weather has brought an abundance of sales to feed my addiction
I showed up at an estate sale the other day about an hour before it was scheduled to open.  I saw the bottom 3 Butterprint Bake Serve & Store casseroles in the ad and wanted to get there extra early to try and snag them.  When I got there, there were only about 4 other people in line and I found out that there was a misprint and the sale actually started in 5 minutes, not an hour!  I had no problem getting my beloved Butterprint.  I already had the top one so now I have the whole set!
There was an ad for a church rummage sale that promised vintage Pyrex.  I was one of the first in the door and the sale was in a small room.  After a quick scan, I spotted these yellow Rainbow Stripes bowls in #401 and #402.  I literally shoved by some lady who wouldn't move after I asked her nicely three times to please let me by.  They were sold in a set for $10.00.  The 402 is a duplicate for me and I already have the 403 so another set completed (unless someone knows if there is a 404?).

Yippee!  Another piece of holiday Pyrex to add to my collection.  I found this Golden Poinsettia on eBay and with shipping got in pretty cheap.  It's the huge 2-1/2 quart size and it is in very minty condition.  I never come across holiday patterns in person so I'm not going to feel guilty about buying it online, especially since I really wanted it!
I found the primary blue refrigerator dish with lid at a sale for $1.00.  I have quite a few of these so this one is going to my sister. The Golden Acorn Space Saver with lid is easily the cheapest piece of Pyrex I have ever bought.  Care to guess how much this set me back?  50 cents!  I got it at a city wide garage sale from the sweetest old lady.  I don't think she had any interest in making money on her sale.  She was just enjoying visiting with everyone who came by.
I bought the Blue Horizon 403 and 2-1/2 quart casserole at a collectors market last weekend.  It was the first time I had ever visited this market and it was a really good mix of antique fair and flea market.  I got both of these pieces from the same seller for $10.00.  Gotta love bundling!
Sorry for the blurriness of this picture.  Not sure what happened.  I LOVE turquoise and pink Pyrex so I have no problem buying it online if I find it at a good price.  I bought the 442 Embroidery promotional bowl on eBay a couple of weeks ago.  I LOVE IT!!  The 2-1/2 quart Friendship casserole and lid came from my favorite antique mall booth from the Pyrex Lady (as I call her).  I came across the dual server bowl at a local flea market a couple of weeks ago.  I was super excited because I already had the matching bowl that I found a Goodwill a couple of months ago. Now I just need the warmer & I will have the whole set.  Wonder how hard that will be to find?

Sorry for the long post but I am trying to stay caught up on my blogging.  Also, my sister and I are heading to The Worlds Longest Garage Sale this weekend (70+ miles!).  I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will have lots to show you all next week.

Until then....

Pyrex up for Sale

Ladies (and gents) ....

I have PYREX to sale.  Yay.. and boo!  I just have too much and need to liquidate.  I only collect a few patterns now... (any butterprint, butterfly gold, all and any pink, friendship).

Today I finally went though all of my boxes of Pyrex.  Washed, cataloged, photos .. the works.

Below is the link for my picasa album that has all the Pyrex listed and priced.  I am not out to make money on this and asking what I paid for it.  Shipping of course will be extra and at what it costs to ship it... (again... I am not looking to make money off this).

So, I'm sharing some of my collection with you all.  If you are interested, please contact me and we will work out the details.  (maybe haggle or make a deal too if needed).

Best. Feeling. You spy the box has arrived that you have EAGERLY awaited...... You open the box and hear an unfamiliar jingly sound...... Upon further investigation you find....

Sad, Sad... broken butterprint. What a shame. I am too sad to even "bury" it in the trash. I contacted the seller and we will see what she says. Has anyone shared in my misery before? What will an ebay seller do in this case?

Flea Market & Church Rummage Sale Finds

I love the flea market.  Every other Sunday, the Piccadilly Flea Market sets up at our local fairgrounds.  There are three large rooms full of tables of (mostly) treasures.  I normally walk through twice just to make sure I don't miss anything.  On my most recent trip, I found this 13" x 8" Friendship casserole.  It's huge!
It wasn't priced so I asked the lady at the table how much it was.  She hemmed and hawed and said "Oh that's a very collectible piece".  My heart sank at those words.  But then she came back with $4.00 and I gladly handed her the money without doing my usual haggling.  This dish is perfect.  The colors are vibrant and there are no chips or scratches.

The day before, I happened upon a church rummage sale (one of my favorite types of sales).  It had been going on for a few hours when I got there so I was a little skeptical about what may be left.  Imagine my surprise when I saw this sitting front and center when I first walked in the door
It's kind of hard to tell from the photo but this is the 2-1/2 quart 475-B Butterprint casserole.  And it came with the lid.  All for $3.00!  I love those church ladies!

Until next time.....

Maybe my luck is returning

I think it might be!
Look what I just found! This is the first piece of snowflake that I've found in the wild.

I've found some other great pieces too. Trot on over to my blog to find out what else I got.
There's even a piece of Butterprint that I found that will be available for trading.
I hope your lucky in your pyrex hunting.
Happy Trails!

Mystery Orange 933 Lasagna Pan

I got some new pieces this weekend! You can read more about the two blue pieces here, but this post is about the lovely orange. My wonderful friend surprised me with this gorgeous orange 933 lasagna pan as a housewarming gift. Such a fabulous size, I can't wait to use it!

However, I can't figure out which set it belongs to or when it was made. It is almost the same color as my Town & Country 402, but not quite. I've done some googling, but haven't found any information.

I couldn't resist talking a quick picture of all my oranges together. So pretty!

So does anyone know anything about the origins of the orange lasagna pan? Thanks in advance!

Delphite Blue

Just wanted to quickly share this Pyrex find!
Haven't found any interesting Pyrex lately, so I just about pounced on this yesterday. It's a Delphite blue Golden Grape small bowl.

It appears that it was part of a chip n dip set...this would have been the dip bowl that went into the bracket above the larger chip bowl.

Just thought I'd share! Coming soon to the Pyrex Pantry! As always, Collective members are welcome to offer trades.

A nice treat on a bad day

So....my husband is in the middle of finals in dental school, we are flat broke, and my two year old is getting on my last nerve! The bugs are out in full force in Houston, and they DO make them bigger in Texas. Ugh.

I took advantage of a small break while my little man was at preschool to stop off at a local thrift store. I was lucky enough to find an orange daisy cinderella bowl there recently, and what did I spy today but these two little lovelies sitting on a shelf. No lids, but they were 90 cents each and no chips. I snatched them up, in addition to a small vintage drum shade for a 50's lamp I've had, some t-shirts for a rug I am latch hooking (yikes! it's going to take forever!), some vintage Noritake salt and pepper shakers, and an amazing vintage Rocking K Ranchwear western shirt. I didn't have enough time to dig around the whole store, but I wanted to. Here's to small pleasures on days you want to rip your hair out!

Some Springy Finds

I know in the last few posts on the Collective II and on my blog, I have complained about the shortage of Pyrex in the thrift stores.  Well, that is still the case but I have been having some great luck at the flea markets, yard sales, and antique malls.
Yippee!  I completed another set.  I found the yellow loaf pan at an antique mall during their Customer Appreciation Day.  I paid a whole 6 bucks for it!

I also got this turquoise 232 utility baker at the same mall.  This cost $8.00 and put me one step closer to putting this whole set together.

I finally gave up trying to find this Butterprint butter dish out in the wild.  I bought it on eBay for under $10 including shipping. The seller had it listed as "Vintage Aqua Buttercup".  I was searching for anything "Vintage Aqua".  Imagine my surprise when I found this.  I love it when sellers mess up on the names.  I had zero competition on this item.  I was the only bid!

I know some of you think that getting Pyrex off of eBay or etsy is cheating but sometimes a Pyrex girl has gotta do what a Pyrex girl has gotta do :-)

Hope you all have good luck on your Pyrex hunting this weekend!

Oh, Delphite...

...how I covet thee!

Of every vibrant pattern and colour out there in vintage Pyrex land, my absolute favourite is that gorgeous Delphite blue.

Of course, my most favourite happens to be one of the most elusive - I only have a measly 3 pieces (4 if you count the matching delphite lid on my 501 fridgie, which I don't happen to have a picture of).

And my poor little sugar bowl, without it's friend the creamer. Perhaps one day they'll be reunited!

Almost There!

This is some of the Pyrex from our recent Missouri trip! I am so close to finishing my "main collection" its crazy! I only lack 3 pieces and my "main collection" is finished, hop on over to Everyone Goes to Mick's  and check it out!

Promotional Party!

Hello fellow Pyrex fanatics!  It has been a while since I have been this excited about my Pyrex finds.  I actually feel like all I've been doing lately is complaining about how bad the Pyrex drought has been and commenting on my Goodwill conspiracy theory.  Well, maybe I am speaking too soon, but I think things may be turning around out here on the Oregon coast.  I do feel like I'm paying a bit more for pieces then I did in the past, but when I love a piece and its going in my collection, its totally worth it.  Here are my 3 new finds:

A 2 quart promotional piece from 1959: Behold the Golden Tulip!  Not in the best shape, but I really love this pattern
My favorite find because of the color:  Medallion, a promotional piece from 1962.  This one is so hard to photograph, but it is a beautiful minty green color.
And finally, this gem here is called Golden Classic, and is a promotional casserole from 1962.  It is 2 1/2 quarts, which I think is such a great size for casseroles.  I don't feel like the picture does this one justice either, it is such a vibrant yellow in person.  I paid $6.99 for this one, but I couldn't resist!

Lets hope the luck continues!
Happy thifting!
