Lucky Day Explanation

Last week I posted about the two Butterprint Cinderella bowls that someone left behind in my mother-in-laws office and she brought them home to me.  Well, evidently this angered some anonymous readers so I thought that I would offer a full explanation.
When I posted this I didn't think that I would anger anyone. This was meant to be a fun post and for the sake of boring everyone, the entire story wasn't told. The dishes were left there from a potluck clear back in May and my mother-in-law was very aware of who they belonged to, a former co-worker. The person no longer works there and was contacted several times in regards to these particular dishes as well as many other items she left behind. She never responded. I am truly sorry if anybody was offended by my post.

  1. So sorry someone was offended by your lucky day. I worked in a place where we had a potluck and after several contacts to come get your stuff or it's gone from here, it was gone from the office. Their loss was your gain. It didn't mean much to them or they would have retrieved it. hugs, Linda

  3. Seriously? I remember reading that and thinking good score! Not sure if I commented then, but I am now! Sometimes people lose their sense of humor and lightness, don't fret about it. Most of us "got it"!

  4. Oh, don't worry about the negative comments; they are bound to come. You were lucky! I think maybe some people are so attached to their own Pyrex that they can't imagine someone leaving those two pretty bowls for so long.

  5. Oh good grief! Why do some people take everything so seriously. Congratulations are your new bowls. Butterprint is one of my favorite patterns.

  6. Boy, don't feel bad about that post. People are crazy. That's the rule at our church too, so if there is something left behind, it's up for grabs. This isn't a new concept. Just ignore the negative comments and keep blogging as usual. I'll bet those people are just jealous!!

  8. Someone left a perfectly beautiful turquoise tupperware container in our office refrigerator forever. I remembered who brought it and when I asked her about it she said if it was hers she didn't want it. I took it.
Personally, I think it would be useless to keep anything as lovely as turquoise at an office.

    1. *I didn't mean to delete my comment, silly Blogger* I think it's silly the etiquette police came after you. She (?) wasn't too pleased with my answer, either. I guess we are horrible people ;)

  10. All that etiquette stuff that "Anonymous" was flapping her hands and wagging her finger about might apply to a guest bringing a dish to your home.

But someone who brings it to work and won't take it home, day after day, for months, doesn't give a hoot about getting her dishes back. Nobody should break a sweat about returning them, never mind returning them "not empty". Good grief.

Do not let "Anonymous" spoil your day, she's full of hooey. Those bowls were fair game.

  11. I wish people would keep their negative comments to themselves. This person was probably jealous:)

  12. Thanks everybody for all your positive comments regarding this situation. You have all made me feel so much better! I will admit that I was feeling a little taken aback by the comments from "anonymous" but after hearing what you all think, I realize that I did nothing wrong. The Pyrex Collective should be a fun place to be, not a place where you have to worry about being reprimanded by the etiquette police :-) Have a great weekend! Erica

  13. I appreciate your explanation and am glad you posted. I admit to feeling a little taken aback by your acquisition. Mostly because I would be so sad if it was my Pyrex. But I did not feel it was my place to comment on it. Clearly this person was not worried and did not really want their dishes back. So congrats on your bowls!
