An uncommon find!
On my way to visit my parents in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this week, I made a list of thrift stores to hit up in various towns along the way. At one, I came across this piece of promotional Pyrex, called Olive Medallion. It is the 045 oval casserole (2.5 quart size - my favorite!). While this side of the dish looks great, the pattern on the backside has quite a bit of smudging to the paint. It likely came from the factory that way. I paid $2.99 for it. I'll still have to find a lid for it, but it's staying with my collection! According to what I can find online, this promotional pattern was available on the 043 and 045 casseroles in 1964.
And, between two other stores, I found this nice stack of round cinderella casseroles. Although the green looks a little off color-wise in the picture, it's spot on in real life! All of these look like they've never been used. Bottom is a Verde 473, middle is a Daisy 472 with clear lid (not the Daisy lid is should have come with) and top is a Butterfly Gold 472 with clear lid. The bottom two were $4 each and the top one was $3.

Promotional Pyrex is always so nice!! And your other finds aren't bad either!!!
ReplyDeletewonderful finds, don't you love finding pyrex?
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty!! Good luck finding a lid...I've been trying to find the same sized lid and haven't not had any luck yet...
ReplyDeleteI just bought the identical oval dish today. I'm not sure why it's called Olive Medallion, as mine is a cream base with gold (definitely gold) medallions. Nothing "olive" or green about it, though I have seen green Pyrex with medallion designs.
