What is This?

My husband was out of town and came home with many lovelies he found thrifting! I will post more about them later. Can you help me identify this little clear dish?
(My cat is such a ham!) On the bottom is the clear logo stamp that says: PYREX trademark made in USA 019 20 oz. We don't collect clear Pyrex, although I have several that I brought from home and use regularly. My husband thought it was cute!
What was it used for? It looks old; is it?
Thanks for any help you can give.

  1. Kathy I love these dishes and use them all the time. They are early refrigerator dishes and have a cover so keep an eye out for them. I buy them all the time at thrifts and yardsales for cheap. I have a couple of lids that I have found also. Not sure of the 'dates' these were made but they are wonderful. hugs, Linda

  3. I have a couple of these too. Some of my first Pyrex thrift purchases. I know my grandmother and MIL had/have them. Perfect size if you want a bigger than normal bowl of cereal ;)

  4. Thank you all for the info; so it seems the dish is pretty old then. Thanks Sandra for the tip about the cat. She seemed to want to be in pictures today!

  5. It depends on your age I suppose, but I don't consider it very old. It is from the early 1970s. Some of these even have metric on them.

  7. Hmm, looking at Farra's link above and a book I have I was thinking they were early refrigerator dishes from the '30s-'40s? Shows I have a lot to learn!

  8. We have several of these, two say 20oz and the other one says 600mL with a slightly different Pyrex logo. We bought 2 of them for $2 each somewhere in Kentucky on a roadtrip, and the third for $3.99 with a lid at Goodwill. We picked the piece in the best condition to keep with the lid, the other two we use for our cat's food. Yes, even our cats use Pyrex!!
