Hello! My name is Amanda and I am a newbie! I've seen vintage Pyrex before on a few blogs I visit and thought it was beautiful, but never really gave it a second thought. Fast forward to last week! I was taking my oldest daughter to the Doctor and we had about 20 minutes to kill. There is a Goodwill store right across the street so we decided to walk in and check it out :). I saw these little beauties sitting on the shelf.. and scooped them right up!
Now that I've had the time to research a little more, I realize I am a pretty lucky gal to have found a complete set of mint Butterprint fridgies WITH lids! This sparked a bit of an obsession and I've been hunting here and there as I can. I got skunked the first 2 times I went looking after this amazing find... but I found 4 more pieces on Wednesday! The green and yellowish Cinderella bowls were found at Goodwill, as well as the divided casserole dish lid. The Early American pieces were found at an Antique/Thrift shop. I think I was really still just in the "OOH PYREX!" mode at that time, and now I'm finding that I'm not really very fond of this print.. lol :) Oh well!
Lucky you! I rarely find Pyrex at Goodwill (one time, to be exact, and it had damage) and I have been looking for a while. Where do you live? Around here at Goodwill and SA I suspect they have antique dealers go through things before they are put on the shelves.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dishes; butterprint is my favorite pattern! And welcome!
BUTTERPRINT FRIDGIES!!!!!!!! These are very high on my wish list :) That was a very lucky find.
ReplyDeleteButterprint is what sparked my collecting also. And I'm also not fond of the 'earth tone' patterns. I like fun colors best. Especially the blues & turquoise.
Kathy - Thank you! I was shocked to find this complete set.. I live near Charlotte, NC.
ReplyDeleteSandra - sound like we have a lot in common! I'm off to check out your blog :)
WOW- what an amazing find!!! You must have been smiling right that day :)!! Woo-hoo! Have fun collecting- that's one I hope to have someday too (I'm new to this also). :) We'll all learn together!
ReplyDeleteYou very lucky to find a complete set of Butterprint fridgies!! I've had to put my set together piece by piece over a period of time. Good luck on future Pyrex collecting! :)
ReplyDeleteI like to collect the brighter colors too, especially pink and turquoise. But I do have a couple fridgies in Early American; I love the cats!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about grabbing them when you see them.... now have decided only the colors I really like. I don't want 100, I plan on using them!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! And just for the record I have NO idea why there are multiple fonts/font sizes in my post! I've tried editing it to no avail. lol :)
ReplyDeleteI'm on the hunt for butterprint too! Have yet to see it in real life. I bought some early american pieces when I first started out (like..a couple months ago) in the same "OHH PYREX" mode as you. I would like to trade them in for some more colorful pieces as well!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing! I haven't had luck at Goodwill so far but I will the dream about the day that I stumble onto something like this :)
ReplyDeleteLove your finds, those Butterprint fridgies are simply amazing!
