I really don't know that much about Pyrex only that I like it.
Can some one tell me is it good to have a clear bottom? and why?

  1. I would say it's a matter of personal preference. If you like it then it's good! I do believe the colored bowls with clear bottoms are newer than the ones made of white milk glass with fired on colors; if I am wrong about that someone please correct me!

  2. You're right Kathy, those bowls are not anywhere near as old as the white milk glass ones. Clear bottomed bowls are from the Pyrex Designs range and were introduced in 1986. Do a search on "clear bottom bowls" in the Pyrex Love Flickr group and you'll be sure to find plenty of examples.

  3. Yes, just like anything else, it's a matter of preference. I didn't intend to collect the clear bottom bowls, but it's hard for me to turn ANY piece of Pyrex down, especially if the price is reasonable.

  4. I agree with's hard to turn them down at a good price. The set I found recently were in pretty spring colors and I am really glad I got them!
