I Heart Bar Keeper's Friend!

My mom told me any Pyrex I found in her cabinets I could keep. I searched thoroughly for any trace of the Butterfly Gold pattern dishes. My parents received this set as a wedding gift and over the years, pieces have been broken, lost, and misused at the hands of their children (Sorry, Mom!).

My searching paid off. I found two pieces! One bowl that had suffered some type of burned food incident that was no doubt, my fault many years ago. If I had found this piece at Goodwill, I probably would have left it on the shelf. Now I know better.

Before

After

This bowl has looked like this for YEARS!

After a few minutes of Bar Keeper's Friend

Lovely set (I can't figure out how to rotate the picture.)
This was my first attempt with Bar Keeper's Friend. I am really impressed! I can't wait to clean up some more pieces. I now have two FREE pieces to bring to my home. I love Pyrex gifts.

  3. How did you use it? With a little bit of water or just dry or lots of water?

  4. I found a large Town and Country fridgie dish at Goodwill today for $5.95 and it had baked on crud like the bowls above and I passed on it thinking that it was way overpriced especially for the damage it had. BUT after seeing your post I'm tempted to go back and get it with hopes that Bar Keeper's Friend could clean it up! :)

  5. I mixed the powder with a little bit of water. Rubbed it on with a rag and and it came off as I was rubbing. Great stuff. It even got the stains off my counters from our eye dyeing events on Sunday.

  8. I bought the powder and the liquid. They seem to work just as well but the powder is messier of course. I found them at Bed Bath & Beyond. The powder was 1.99 and the liquid was 3.99. Plus you can use a coupon.

  10. I love Bar Keeper's Friend, and it has shined up many a sad bowl for me! I also recently started using a liquid cleaner for smooth cooktops, and it works really well too! Baking soda is also good! Love your Butterfly Gold bowls!

  12. Bar Keeper's friend is amazing when it comes to cleaning Pyrex! I make a little paste as well - sometimes if the stains are really bad, I'll make the paste and smear it on the stains and let it sit until it dries, then clean it off with a soft sponge. It's like a miracle! Takes off rust too - for those of you who pick up the compatibles.

I'm happy yours turned out looking so wonderful! I do a lot of salvage too, given the state I find things in. Another great tip (that I learned on this blog) is to use a toothpick to clean up the seams - super helpful especially on white Pyrex.

  13. Thanks, Sandra - I checked out the Canadian locations - unfortunately - none of the stores are in my area - I better get my daughter to be on the hunt - she lives in southern Ontario!

  14. When it comes to the pool cleaners in your mind, you may think of a heavy and a big device. However, Zodiac mx8 is an automatic pool cleaner that is light in weight and that is normal in size. If you are thinking to clean your pool in an automatic way then have a look at zodiac mx8 reviews.
