I feel like Gollum in Lord of the Rings with his Precious. If you're not sure what I mean, picture me crouched down, maniacally searching for and protecting my Pyrex.
We now have a Pyrex In-Pyrex Out policy and it is stressing me out. Sure, it was easy in the beginning to sell, trade or gift those Spring Blossom, Golden Butterfly or Town & Country patterns that seem to be a little more readily available. Now that I am down to promotional, rare, primaries, pink and turquoise... the passing along is getting harder. I try to only buy In The Wild at thrift stores or auction. When I saw these (bottom 5) coming up at a local auction, I was heartbroken that I would not be in town to get a chance to bid on them.
So, how do I now have them in my possession you ask? My friend of over 20 years artfully bid on my behalf and procured the bottom five (full set) for only $37.50. That is the most I have ever paid for Pyrex but worth it, don't you think? As for my friend, I scored her an awesome pink vintage rotary telephone as thanks. Precious.
I'm in love with that pink! Drool worthy (and the price to me for pink would be worth it, softy for pink!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and well worth it!!
ReplyDeleteUnbelieveable! Good for you & what an awesome friend you have. I am SOOOOOO jealous!
ReplyDeleteYes, nice work!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am at the thrifts I search and protect Pyrex like the LOTR dude too~!
The most I've ever paid is $20 but I think I would have paid $37 for those sweet pink fridgies, everybody needs a little treat every so often!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good friend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pink Pyrex! Forget the Pyrex in-Pyrex out policy. That is too stressful. That had to be a man who came up with that rule. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI often find myself saying "My precious!" in a Gollum voice to my finds...hopefully no one is close by to hear me when I mutter to myself. I'm glad I'm not the only one :)
