Since I have started collecting Pyrex, I have been really trying to complete sets. So far since last summer, I have completed a total of 3, one of which being the New Dots set I posted about earlier in the week. Well, this must be my lucky week because not only did I complete that set, I completed 2 others...
I won the #442 Butterprint Cinderella bowl on eBay from a seller who had it listed as "Amish Buttercup". I stumbled upon it completely by accident and had zero competition in regards to bids. I ended up paying the ridiculously low start price and even with shipping I got it for far less than I have seen it in any antique or thrift store.
I found the red 402 at Goodwill for $3.99. It's not in the best shape. Some of the paint is starting to come away from the rim but it will work for now. I still think this set is beatiful. Sometimes it's a good thing to show a little age.
Have a Great Thursday Pyrex Friends!
fantastic finds! i need to remember to check the misspells in the auctions
ReplyDeletePyrex off of eBay seems like "cheating" to me. I mean, you know its going to be there so theres no "fun" in it.
ReplyDeleteI think it just sounds like you aren't addicted to Pyrex yet, right sister? :)
DeleteI agree. I like to find Pyrex on my own. It does make it much more exciting. But sometimes I come across a great deal on a bowl I need that I just can't pass up.
DeleteMaybe I'm wrong, but I believe the friendship set included an orange 402. That red belongs to the Primary colors set. It's definitely pretty with two red bowls, though.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right. On Pyrex Love it says that the 402 is actually an orange red and is often confused with the red 402 from the Primary set. I think it will do for now though. Thanks for your input :-)
DeleteCongrats on completing your Butterprint set!! I love your Friendship set even though it's not "technically" correct. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love the set you pieced together! Yay for being creative :) Isn't it great to finish a set? I still need two to finish my Butterprint....er...Buttercup :)
