Pyrex Cleaning options

Hello fellow pyrexers we've all heard of ways to clean our well loved Pyrex but I was wondering if any of you have ever used oven cleaner on any of it? I was at a local Sally Ann and was told oven cleaner would solve my cleaning woes! But oven cleaner seems a little harsh for Pyrex to me. What is your opinion? Have you used oven cleaner?

  1. Yes! I have used it! Like you I was completely skeptical & freaked out, but I had a piece that was COVERED in gunk when I found it, and I desperately wanted to get it clean...and the oven cleaner totally worked! You can actually see photos & read about it on my blog if you want to see the end result: http://www.victorygardenyarn.com/2011/08/makeover-pyrex-edition.html

    Good luck! :)

  2. I've used it too, the less caustic / low fume version.

  3. I just recently used it on a very gunky and greasy orange 403 and it did an amazing job!! I was very nervous at first, but I figured what the heck did I have to lose? I couldn't use or display the dish like it was so I hesitantly sprayed it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and it worked beautifully!!

  5. I used Easy Off oven cleaner on a lime colored Pyrex pie plate and it worked wonders to remove the baked on grease that Bar Keeper's Friend would not remove. Just had to leave it outside my kitchen sliding doors since the fumes were so bad.
