Oh my, I don't have a bunch of pretty Pyrex pictures to share right now. Just one bowl today. But I'll be sure to come back and post more. If you can believe this, I actually sold a bunch of Pyrex in the past few months. Eek! What was I thinking!? A Spring Blossom Green casserole, and worst of all a lovely old Forest Fancies that I literally put the breaks on so fast while driving around garage sale-ing, I almost caused an accident. (There I was sprinting from the car and then with as much calm as I could muster - although I was giddy with Pyrex spotting excitement - asking a woman who was sitting on an old davenport smoking a cigarette, "How much for the Pyrex?" She looked at it, gave a sort of grunt, and said "A buck.") And I sold it recently! I don't know why. What's wrong with me? What horrid anti-Pyrex ailment came over me?
So, okay. Please forgive me. But as you can tell I still haven't forgiven myself. Ahh.
Here is my favorite Pyrex bowl. At this point, I forget where it came from but I use it all the time. I love to imagine who owned it before me, who purchased it brand new. It's definitely got "used" written all over it. I *use* it as a mixing bowl, and as a vessel for my famous potato salad, and sometimes I just take it out for eye candy purposes.
Here I was making peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for my daughter. Recipe can be found here; it's good.
And here we have strawberry syrup. Sorry, no recipe for this one - we just winged it.
I'll be back soon with more. I have the most darling Pyrex butter dish I want to share because it's different and pretty and I don't even know what it's called. I blog at Rhythm of the Seasons and you might be able to poke around there for other Pyrex doodads. Thanks so much for reading.
Welcome! Love the Butterprint bowl, it is my favorite pattern.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention Forest Fancies; I have what's left of a set I got new as a wedding shower gift. Only the two smallest bowls remain and they are well used and worn looking. I was looking for new mixing bowls and that's how I got started collecting Pyrex! To that end, my first buy was Butterprint.
I look forward to seeing your finds as your collection grows.
I have yet to find myself a butterprint bowl...so pretty. Can't wait to see your butter dish!
