The Drought is Over...I think!

I was stunned and delighted to pull this out of the new merch bin at Goodwill yesterday. Four clear fridgies! Three with lids! And in a holder I've never seen before and not even sure originally came with the Pyrex--does anyone know for sure?
I picked the entire set up for $5.99. There was now way I was leaving the 501 lids behind!

I'm sure a lot of other collectors have the same issue, I had plenty of fridgies at home with missing lids! I would have gladly bought just the lids, but the extra pieces were a bonus, for sure.
Also found last week was this little red set! I love the size of the little red dishes, they're darling.
Then there's THIS! Orange Butterprint!! It's a 443, and a friend picked it up for me. I nearly keeled over when she texted me asking if I wanted it.
To which I replied, "I want!!!!"
I guess it was marked $12.99 but she got it half off. Yay!
{Thank you, Kellee!}

After a day of thrifting with my husband last weekend this was the only Pyrex I had to show for it, but it was a fun find and $3.
And a Wheat 043 gifted to me by a friend who already had two.
{More thanks, Kellee!}
A Pixie was found at an antique mall for $6.
I've never seen one in real life before, so I was smitten with it's size!
And also these two little dudes, thrifted a couple weeks back.
Now I wish I hadn't sold my other Twin dish. Oh well...

So, I guess it's safe to say that Pyrex Drought of Winter 2012 is officially over for me. Last summer was really fruitful for me, so I'm looking forward to the Pyrex to come!

Cheers,
Heather @ Lark & Lola

PS--I recently spotted a little bit o' Pyrex at a retro kitchen exhibit here in Denver, check out my blog to see what I found: http://lastdayago.blogspot.com

Blue Dianthus?

So Day 1 of my vacation was spent looking for Pyrex, of course! I was bummed that I mostly found stuff for trade. But I found two pretty cool pieces.

The first one was a baby 441. I had no idea what the pattern was but my Flickr buddies helped me identify it. I was given the link to the Blue Dianthus photos on PyrexLove but I wonder why mine is not a true 440 size.
Does anyone know?

I also found a Jade-Ite Fire King 2000 Baker.

I'm not completely on board with FireKing or Jade-Ite so it might be going to another home where it will be loved.

Hope you all find some great Pyrex!

Hunting for Pyrex

So we went to a wedding for a friend of mine in Lake Charles and tried to Pyrex shop along the way. Lake Charles in general was a giant dud. I found mostly corelle pieces and maybe 2-3 overpriced pieces.

I had lost all hope of finding anything until my hubby spotted a random flea market on the side of the road. It was raining, 9 am on a Sunday morning, and looked at little shady. So why not? LOL

Found some AWESOME pieces.

The Pueblo is finally mine! I really wanted this in time for Halloween but I will take it!

Pueblo
$8 bucks!!!!

For Trade
I also restocked my pieces for trade.

Let me know if you want to trade. See my trade album.

Verde, Fridgies, and Philbe--oh my!

My recent finds report!
After hitting up about 8 thrift stores this week {I have a problem} I *finally* found some decent Pyrex! This Verde casserole set is exciting for me because I found it in absolute mint condition. You know when you can just tell that a piece was never used? It's as shiny as the day it was born and there is not a utensil scratch to be found. I picked this set up for $19.99.

To show you how minty this set is, here I have the middle casserole next to an identical one I'd found ages ago, very beat up. I only paid 99 cents for it, though.

 Speaking of 99 cents...

I never find fridgies! But just as I was about to leave a Goodwill the other day empty handed, they bussed out another cart full of things to rummage through. After a little digging, I found these two Butterprint fridgies. Score!

Only one had a lid, but, check out these prices!
99 cents each. Now that's more like it, Mr. Goodwill!
I was expecting to see $5.99 or possibly more, the way thrift stores have started to recognize collectibles and gouge us. So this was a happy surprise.

Another Verde, another fridgie was destined to find me this past month, also:
I'm thinking I'm going to use it to pile up my Christmas cards in this year!

This set is promised to a friend since I'm not a huge fan of Colonial Mist, but just one more bowl will make it a complete set. It was sold as a bundle, which I've been seeing more of lately--have you? It came with a sad, destroyed Daisy bowl:

Snowflake Blue, on the other hand, is one of my very favorites. I own almost the complete set of Corelle dishes which I've thrifted here and there. Those have been easy to find, but the actual Pyrex has been more elusive. Finally, I found the large Cinderella bowl recently, and a friend swapped me the casserole for a pink Dessert Dawn that I had multiples of. We both win!
And I already owned the lime loaf dish, but I was excited to pick up the baking dish this past month, too. I love this color. It's so cheery. I will definitely hope for more of it...

One last thing!
So until recently I've considered myself a "Pyrex Purist." But then I started to fall for Fire-King's Sapphire Blue Philbe pattern. I'm curious if any of you other collectors pick up other glassware, or do you all just stick to Pyrex?

I absolutely fell in love with this Sapphire Blue Philbe refrigerator dish I found recently! I snatched it up for $5.99. I didn't even know this pattern came in this size.
I've also managed to thrift a pie dish and a casserole...

I just have a thing for this pattern, I guess! Are there any other Philbe collectors out there???
I guess I'm a Pyrex Purist no more!
My husband is probably thinking, "Greeeaaat... another thing to collect!"

Merry Christmas!

Butterprint Cinderella Bowls

On the 9th, I finally went to the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was AMAZING and packed full of vintage goodies. (My only complaint is that the prices were much higher than what I've been used to paying at the San Diego swap meet I go to.) While I was there, I picked up my first set of cinderella bowls - in my favorite pattern! They are in beautiful condition. I haggled these bowls down to $25, which I thought was expensive. After seeing sets selling for $100+ at that flea market, though, I realized I bought the cheapest set in the whole place!

Oh Turquoise! How I love you!!

I had a very good (or if you ask my bank account, bad) day yesterday. A couple estate sales, a few thrift stores, and the local antique mall. I decided to hit the antique mall on a whim after I drove by and saw they were having a sidewalk sale. I got there late in the afternoon and most vendors were packing up. But I went inside. And I'm glad I did. I normally avoid the antique places, because, as you well know, the pricing will kill you. Or at least put you into shock. But it was worth it when I got to bring these two beauties home.

Plus, as I was getting ready to leave, I stopped at one last booth. I was looking at some other things in a really jumbled area. I bent down to check something out and turned around just in time to spot this hiding on the bottom shelf behind some furniture:

My first Pyrex with the original box. And I can tell you that they cost a bit more than the left- over yard sale sticker price of $3.00. But they were on sale for 25% off, so that makes it all okay, doesn't it?

Here's the rest of my haul from Saturday. Oh, except the green and yellow Cinderella bowls. I picked those up a few weekends ago at a fruit stand/antique store. It was being sold as a chip and dip set with the bracket. My question is: were those actually sold as a chip and dip set?

Hope your weekend was as "productive" as mine. Now I gotta go get some housework done around here.

butterprint and daisy

I found these two cinderella bowls at separate thrift stores last week. The smaller was $3 and the larger was $4. It's my first thrifted butterprint (I bought some butterprint fridgies on ebay once) as well my first yellow daisy (I think this belongs in the yellow daisy cinderella set, right?). I'm VERY giddy about my finds!

I'm a fan of cinderella bowls in general - I'm a bowl fiend!!

Weekend Hauls!

Spring Cleaning is certainly working in my favor! I am finding more pyrex than I can keep up with!
Have such a special place in my heart for this pattern.

This piece is a wee little dish.

Love all of it!

I can't seem to have enough carafes or New Dots for that matter!

Primary Fridgies!
Hope you found some good things over the weekend!

Loving the Weekend Thrifting!

Now that I am in summer, my weekends are virtually free. No soccer games, boy scout activities, no school activities for my son. So I am making full use of my free time. We have been hitting thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, and garage sales. I picked up some to trade (hopefully).

Here is what I picked up recently.
I love fridgies!

My Spring Blossom collection is growing. My first gold leaf (foil?) piece.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the turquoise.

I picked up the purple pieces for a purple loving friend who complained that Pyrex doesn't make anything in her favorite color.

Anyone know what pattern this is?

That's my haul for now. We are on the hunt for storage/display solutions for my collection. How do you store your pyrex? I want my pieces accessible to use but on display when not in use.

441 Love

Today I decided to do a little photo shoot for my #441s. I didn't realize I had so many until I started looking around and realized I have a pretty little collection of the 441s, so a photo shoot was in order.
These cute little Cinderellas make for cute pictures so I just thought I'd share.
What's your favorite Pyrex size?
The #441s have definitely won me over...
Thanks for looking!

Practical Pyrex

My gramma recently came over and saw my Pyrex collection. She is too practical to collect anything much less 'old dishes' but she is still supportive and I think in awe of how much I have collected in such a short amount of time. She called me a few days later to tell me she had something to give me. I was so excited when I made it over there. She gave me this unused set still in the box. When I asked why she never used it, she said, 'They were too nice to use.' Turns out she is not ALWAYS practical.

I was thrilled to have this as part of my collection. I have been thinking about selling or trading some of my pieces but I tend to get sentimental about pieces. I am definitely keeping this set.
