Hi Everyone!
Since I started collecting Pyrex, I have been picking up the little red square bowls whenever I see them in hopes that I would find the large red bowl and lid someday.
The only time I had ever seen the large Hostess bowl in person was when my sister snagged one at Goodwill when we were out thrifting one day. I wasn't too mad at her because the one she got was yellow and I was hunting for the red one.
Then a few weeks ago, I found these three companion bowls to the large yellow bowl at SVDP. Now I had to find a yellow and a red? I could have just been nice and given these to my sister since she had the larger bowl but Pyrex always makes me a little greedy. A few days after I found these, my sister, BFF Rachel, and I went on our annual girls trip. At one antique mall, I spotted both the yellow and the red but couldn't bring myself to pay the crazy high prices. Once I got home, I thought that maybe, just maybe, SVDP may have put out the larger bowl and guess what......
They did! I searched high and low for the lid but it was nowhere to be found. Then, that same week, I found this at an estate sale
This was just getting to be too much for me. Now if I could only find a yellow lid.
Last Friday I went to a yard sale that promised "100's of Pyrex dishes". Care to guess what the first thing I grabbed was?
Yep. Another yellow Hostess dish with the lid! So just in case anyone is losing track, here is the yellow
And the red
I'm not sure I should mention this, but with the exception of two of the small red bowls, every single piece was acquired in a 10 day period. Crazy, I know.
You won't hear me complaining about a dry spell!

ReplyDeleteI have the yellow, but also need the lid, I've picked up a turquoise one too thats missing the lid. I just need to fine a red big bowl- and 2 more big square bowls scratched up (so I can spray paint them pink and green for "looks") Dont cha just love it when the Pyrex come flowing in!
ReplyDeleteLove it because I have the red! Got the bowl with no lid and 4 small bowls..then my friend found the red with the lid..funny thing it is slightly smaller? Enjoy, we had Cinco De Mayo buffet and used them!
ReplyDeleteI love happy stories like yours! I also am in need of a big red lid and the turquoise chip bowl to go with the cute little turquoise dip bowl that I found. I'm also fantasizing about the rose chip and dip set.
