new home, new pyrex displays

hello everyone!

 haven't posted lately

turns out having a baby, going back to work five months later,

moving into a new home, and finishing my masters [in june!]

can make for fewer pyrex posts - mostly because I'm still not on a regular hunting schedule

but, I do have something to share

a new home means displaying the pyrex collection in new ways

this corner window ledge is one of my favorite places in my new home

and as you maybe can tell, our new home was actually built right around 1950

so vintage pyrex was meant for this ledge!

I love having a dining room for my hutch

it seems quite small now that it is in a room, and not a hallway

I also love that I can see the majority of my collection from the main living space

something that was not true in our other home

even so, I still have a few pieces I cannot display

we lost three very large open shelves that our old kitchen had

and I'm really hating that our china and a few other pieces are hidden

I'll have to work on something for that soon

but for now, I can officially say I have moved my ninety+ piece collection 

with no breaks, chips, or cracks

[I did spend a good penny on packing supplies however]

Rarities

I have been so fortunate lately to come into some very nice, hard-to-find pieces! Thanks to a couple friends and some lucky finds--my collection is growing more unique all the time. 

I picked up the Balloons 444 today off of Craigslist. I paid $20, which is usually very high price for me to pay for Pyrex. But this one was on my must-finds list, so I was willing to pay a little more than usual. It has a few scratches, but is in generally lovely condition. 

My orange Butterprint collection grows! I only need two more bowls. I had the 443 thanks to one friend, and another friend gave me the 444. So sweet!

My Gooseberry pink sets are now complete, too. I was delighted to find the 443 & 444 sitting on a shelf at Goodwill {or Gougewill, as I like to call it...} and they were the exact pieces I need for this set:

Meanwhile, my friend also found the 502 fridgie for me, which complete my fridgie set. Joy!

I have the best friends in the world.

I have to say, I honestly feel sort of spoiled right now. Almost like I've been naughty, getting so many awesome pieces lately. I have Pyrex guilt!

Ebony and.....Pink!

I found these restaurant mugs in the Ebony pattern recently at a thrift.

My other recent fun find was these two Pink Gooseberry casseroles with lids.

The drought ends with... Christmas?

I've been in the worst Pyrex drought here, lately! In fact, my husband and I thrifted 6 stores today, and I found nothing {except a few mugs, as shown below, I'll come back to those...}

Then finally, at the end of the day I was out running errands alone when I decided I had to stop at one more Goodwill today. Alas! Finally, some Pyrex success!

Yes, it's a Christmas dish {1960 Holiday casserole}, but I was still over the moon to finally find this! And I adore the Christmas Pyrex and have very much wanted more, so this was an exciting find for me. I paid $4.99, and it's in fantastic condition. It didn't have it's lid, but I found a knobbed lid a few aisles from this dish, it's marked Pyrex and it fits, only 99 cents! Works for me.

These "mugs", known as Drink-Ups if I'm correct, were the only other find of the day. I paid $1.50 for all three. I've never seen these in the wild before.

A couple weeks back I visited a new thrift store in a suburb of Denver, and waiting for me on the shelf were these two Gooseberry pink Pyrex dishes. I was thrilled, of course, as pink Gooseberry is among my very favorite patterns and I didn't yet own either of these. A 503 fridgie and a 473 casserole. $7 for both! Great condition, too.

Oh, and then there's this! Two flamingo pink 080s!

I *ADORE* this size! It's so cute. A friend recently found herself a lime 080 and when I saw it in person I knew I had to have some. 

So I cheated, I bought these on Etsy.

And I paid the most I've ever paid for Pyrex before, but what can I say? We'd just received our tax refund and I had a little $$$ to splurge with. I couldn't help but make these mine. They are absolutely mint, so there's that.

And so my pink collection has grown! Hurray!

Hopefully it keeps growing.

And hopefully, my Pyrex drought is officially over.

Consolidating

Hello Pyrexians. Awhile back, I came to the conclusion that I had to stop collecting random pieces and get a print or color going for space and financial reasons. I decided on Gooseberry and Butterprint. These are my current pieces housed in my vintage cherry hutch.

Turquoise & Pink Have a New Home

While doing a little thrift store/antiquing this weekend, I found this cute old utility cart

It used to be pink and was in pretty good condition with only a few rust spots.  I wish I had gotten a before picture but my husband got ahold of the spray paint before I could.  It is turquoise now (sorry about the shadows).  Since he was doing all the hard work, I gave him the option of colors.  Being the guy he is, he obviously chose the blue over the pink.  Now it proudly sits in my kitchen and holds all of my turquoise and pink patterns

How lucky am I to have found a guy who can wield a can of spray paint?

A very pyrex holiday

 It was a very pyrex holiday here at my house.
My parents bought me these two beautiful pieces back from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Hi Karin and Mark!) as Christmas presents. A lovely verde casserole with patterned lid! and my very sought after pink gooseberry fridigie! The gravy boat (sans underplate) was from my "inlaws". I was spoiled. My boyfriend even bought me the pyrex collectors book, although I'm still unsure as to whether he supports this addiction.

I replied to a message on kijiji and ended up scoring all this.
It belonged to the womans mother and the butterprint set had been a wedding present to her.
I love the history you get when you buy pyrex from people rather than from a store.

I got these three over two days from two different VVs.
A verde 043, a blue horizon and a friendship orange with daisy lid.

But, this was the best find of the holiday. Another craigslist find and I paid, get ready for it....
 FIVE DOLLARS! She's gorgeous, there's some scratches but they're all on the bottom. The woman I got it from said she got it as a wedding present in 1961. I think she's survived very well.

pink, pink, & more pink

and there is just no complaining about it

this week I've gotten to thrift two days

and have had some pyrex luck for sure

but the funniest part - it has all been pink

now I've mentioned here that I'm not necessary a real pink person

but when it comes to pyrex it truly does make me happy

New Additions.

Hello All!
This is my first post of what I hope to be many more.
These last few weeks have been hit and miss pyrex-wise.
I found these lovely pieces over three days at Value Village.

The 402 was $1.99,
The 473 was 3.99, and the lid was a separate item for 0.50,
and The 475 was 5.99.
All of which I thought was quite reasonable, especially since lately prices seem to be sky rocketing.

I also found this sad looking pink "casserole" dish yesterday at a different value village.

It looked okay at first, then, I flipped it over for this sight
that will for sure give me nightmares.

I couldn't just leave it there though, so I paid the 3.99 for it (damn you Value Village) and brought it home where it will never be abused again. It was a good week, and to think all this started because I found this wonderful set of Butterfly Gold at a yard sale for $5.00 this past summer! The rest was added over the next month. The casserole was 7 (lid included) at The Salvation Army, I also got the blue fridgie there for 3. The butter dish was a gift from my mother and the pink gooseberry bowl was $15.00 from an antique sale (it was weak moment, I just love it so much) The mug was 0.50, and there are 5 more of them!

Hellooo, Everybody

Long time lurker, first time poster.
My name is Tiffany and I blog over at Flea Market Fancy. I'm a recovering housewares hoarder with a soft spot for Pyrex and I'm just ticked pink to be posting here at the Collective.

My current prized piece of Pyrex is my large Gooseberry Pink Cinderella bowl. I snagged it in near mint condition at a flea market for $15.00. My collections right now are of Butterprint and Spring Blossom Green with a few Flamingo Pink bowls. All are stored in my 1940's cherry china cabinet.

The above picture is from my recent flea market destash. I had a Butterfly Gold butter dish that went to its new forever home, a covered Horizon Blue dish, an Autumn Harvest mixing bowl and two lovely pieces of Woodland in the light and dark brown.
