Weekend Roadtrip

I'm a lucky girl to have a husband who is completely supportive of my pyrex collecting. He's also always up for a little driving. Where I live, the homes are newer, and I have trouble finding pieces. We decided to drive to the next county over for a tour of their Goodwills and did pretty well. Clockwise from top left: #444 Town and Country cinderella mixing bowl; #403 Spring Blossom mixing bowl; #401 Spring Blossom mixing bowl; #443 Gooseberry cinderella mixing bowl; #743 Verde bake & store casserole. I picked all this up for a total of $12, which I'm very pleased with.

While it was the pink and aqua pyrex that attracted me to collecting, I'm finding new appreciation for some of the less popular color schemes, the greens and browns in particular. Normally, I'm not a fan of green, but this little Verde casserole is just too cute. It's lonely though, and needs more Verde friends to hang out with.

Some of My Favorites

So, I'm new here to the collective and thought I would share some of my favorites in my stash.  It's amazing how addicting collecting Pyrex is, I might need Pyrex Lovers Anonymous pretty soon!

I think I love this purely because I spotted it on Mad Men

I love the Spirograph casserole and love my Mom even more for finding it for me!

I just love the salt and pepper shakers, they remind me of beakers!

Two new white pieces

Seems to be a bit of a brown and white theme going on today. Three thrift shops, and these are what I picked to come home with me. While I already have the 403 Early American mixing bowl, it is in great shape and the price was right. The 473 round cinderella casserole was also a beauty and I was unable to pass up this Town and Country piece, despite having none of the collection. Not sure what I'll do with either, but someone will love them, that's for sure!

lesson of the day: it never hurts to ask

I spotted this piece of Pyrex at a yard sale.
When I asked if there was more Pyrex for sale, look what the sellers brought out of their house for me:

Just thought I'd share so you'd have something to keep in mind next time you're out Pyrex hunting  :)

Lunch hour find...

Yay for Me!!
Decided to do some snooping on my lunch hour.
I had to choose between this set and two Forest Fancies mixing bowls.
Obviously I chose this! I don't think I'll ever want to own Forest Fancie of anything.
They're not as cool.

Pyrex working hard

I made a delicious lunch for two today - Avocado Egg Salad Sandwich. My pyrex of course came in very handy.

It's an absolutely delicious and healthy recipe to boot. Visit my brand new blog to get the recipe and let me know what you think!

Have a great weekend!

Atomic Blast Off

Check out the legs on this baby! I have seen a couple other candle warmer styles with this leg but not this exact one. The Pyrex dish itself is labeled 626 3QT. It has a gold sponge paint type finish over clear. The lid is brass with wood and a brass decorative leaf pattern around the also wood handle. Super Swanky in all it's Mid Century Mod design.

Though they take up precious kitchen space, I am repeatedly drawn to the candle warmer styles. This beauty was discovered on the back bottom shelf of one of my more frequented Goodwill Stores in Indianapolis, IN. It was $7.99, but the flutter in my chest it stirred up was worth much more.

Does anyone have any other info about this piece?
