Good luck at Goodwill!!

Last week I found the "Square Flowers" 500 fridgie for $3.99, this week it was Butterprint!! Then, later, at the antiques mall where I sell, I found the Verde 444 Cinderella!! I grew up with this exact bowl as the "mashed potatoes" bowl, my sister has that one, and she's not letting go, but now I have a replacement!! I paid $12.95, which is a tad more than I like to spend, but it's in extremely good condition. I also found the "Square Flowers" divided dish, for $8.00, and I do collect that pattern. Nothing came with lids though, so if you have extras and want to trade, hit me up! I'll be posting trade-eligible stuff soon, but post what you're looking for and if I don't have it I can keep an eye out! We're driving up to San Francisco in a few weeks, and I hear that thrifting in the Central Valley is superb!

one new pyrex

Pyrex with Lime

I came upon a motherlode at the flea market this weekend. I had time to really dig through booths and I was so tickled by all that I uncovered (many were haphazardly hidden by other much less exciting items). Unfortunately, I haven't had time to properly photograph anything save for this pretty little dish; she's become the home of my twice-weekly batches of homemade whipped cream.

New Pyrex

Is this a set?

They're the right size, and pattern, but the colors seem odd. Also, how do you all feel about stacking? I know Pyrex is sturdy, but I always hesitate to stack pieces when they touch, especially with patterns, I'm afraid they'll chip or scratch. I typically put paper towels between them or something.

Canada Day Pyrex!

Happy Canada Day Weekend to my fellow Canadians!  And Happy Fourth of July to our American friends!  :)

Went to a great estate sale on Canada Day morning and found all of the following for $2.50 each.

[MY FIRST DOTS!!!]

There should also be a picture of a spring daisy 475 without lid but it's in the fridge holding leftovers  :)

Also picked up a snowflake divided for $5 with the lid at that same sale.

Oh happy day!!!  :)

Pyrex Scores

So I was able to pick up some Pyrex at a swap meet and antique shop in San Diego yesterday. I'm still new to Pyrex and don't know what everything is called yet, so please forgive me in advance. This was only my second time buying Pyrex in person (I've made a few ebay purchases I need to share), so it was very exciting. Of course, the two pieces I bought at the antique shop cost more than the swap meet pieces, but I love them all.

Two snowflake pieces. To the left is 043 and to the right is 045. This seems a bit weird to me since I thought the pieces alternate in color? So what color would 044 be?

I'm not sure what the one to the left is called... I've seen it listed under Delphite Blue, so I'm going to go with that. Number is 475-B. (Why do some pieces have a B?) The cute little one on the right is a 401. I haven't been able to figure out which collection it is from, though. I love the size of it, though, and hope to get more 401 bowls.

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend! Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer my questions.

My Little Butterprint Collection

Here's my little collection of Pyrex Butterprint. I haven't found a new piece in months and I'm fiending hardcore. I only collect the turquoise on white and lately all I've seen is the white on turquoise or ridiculously high prices. I just saw the 401 (smallest Cinderella casserole) and it was so adorable but it was $22! It was mint condition but still...it was too much for me.  I also recently came across the 404 (largest mixing bowl) but it was pretty scratched up and I decided to hold out for a better one.

I have a feeling that if I ever come across the pink or yellow/orange Butterprint I wouldn't be able to resist. So far I've never seen it in real life though, only online.

I have lots of other pieces of other patterns but I'm trying to either gift, trade, or sell them. Our house is too small for me to keep everything I find. Perhaps I'll post some pictures here soon and see if anyone wants to trade.

Also pictured: Cape Cod cruet, Federal three spout measuring cup, Hazel Atlas? juicer, a crystal measuring cup - manufacturer unknown to me, and a Cape Cod small pitcher - I use it to fill the coffeemaker with water every morning :)

As any Pyrexia sufferer knows, storage for your precious beauties presents a challenge. There is much talk of "The Art of Stacking" and whether to keep the lids separate or with their intended.

I have been keeping my ever growing stash in an already space challenged kitchen cabinet. This presents several obvious problems, starting with the fact that you can't actually gaze upon the addictive patterns and colors. Secondly, there is a slight safety issue with dragging out the whole load to get to the inevitable 4 qt Cinderella on the bottom. I am also concerned about the unnecessary wear and tear to the pieces.

So, like many others I have opted to display my Pyrex (and Fire-King) in a period appropriate cabinet I discovered on Craigslist (haggled $75). It is in perfect vintage condition and includes the simple sliding glass doors (not pictured). My storage and access problems are resolved!

How do you deal with storage?
