Pink & Aqua for summer!

Today I picked up my first two pieces of pink daisy Pyrex from a friend here in my city who sells Pyrex, as well as collects it. I found a pink scroll dish last summer, and have two dishes in pink gooseberry, but two weeks ago I did buy the three stacked gooseberry dishes from this same friend. Today, in a lovely gesture, she gave me the Ovaltine Mixer glass/pitcher, as she knows my husband and I love Ovaltine. (I'm British and got him hooked on it a long time ago...) :-)

I took some time this week to put away most of my Pyrex into two cupboards after deciding to just display the pinks and turquoise/aqua colours for the summer - not that I have many, by any stretch of the imagination. So, today I took some photos for my own blog and for this one.

This is also my official thank you to whoever owned these lovely pieces and kept them in mint condition for the last fifty years or so!

I've also put up a photo of my late mother-in-law's Pyrex dish in the starburst pattern, which sat in our cupboard for years, until I started collecting Pyrex about two years ago and realized what I had... along with a 1940s full set of the primary bowls. Yikes. It sort of scares me to think of what I might have tossed or given away in the past, not knowing what I had. Thankfully, I saved the primaries and the starburst!

Turquoise & Pink Have a New Home

While doing a little thrift store/antiquing this weekend, I found this cute old utility cart
It used to be pink and was in pretty good condition with only a few rust spots.  I wish I had gotten a before picture but my husband got ahold of the spray paint before I could.  It is turquoise now (sorry about the shadows).  Since he was doing all the hard work, I gave him the option of colors.  Being the guy he is, he obviously chose the blue over the pink.  Now it proudly sits in my kitchen and holds all of my turquoise and pink patterns
How lucky am I to have found a guy who can wield a can of spray paint?

Have a great week!

pink, pink, & more pink

and there is just no complaining about it
this week I've gotten to thrift two days
and have had some pyrex luck for sure
but the funniest part - it has all been pink
now I've mentioned here that I'm not necessary a real pink person
but when it comes to pyrex it truly does make me happy
so the scores this week:
502 gooseberry fridgie with lid
503 gooseberry fridgie sans lid (but I know I can find one!)
Pink Daisy Cinderella Oval Casserole
Flamingo Pink Pie Plate
So the little bit of pink I had before now looks quite complete
happy holidays!

My Mom found it first!

My Mom visits a church thrift shop each week in B.C. where she found this lovely pink daisy casserole last week for only $2.00

At first, she said she found a "pretty vintage Pyrex" dish that had flowers on it. "What colour??" I asked, and "... they wouldn't be white daisies, would they?"

"Yes, that's right," she said.

Yikes! Despite some great pieces I've bought lately, this one remains elusive to me... and yet my mother found it!

The best part was when my Dad asked her with some trepidation, "You're not going to collect a ton of Pyrex now, are you?"

simple finds - simple joys

this morning I made a quick thrifting run & was quite successful
first I spotted the pink daisy casserole dish
and for $4 I couldn't pass it up
typically I'm not a huge pink fan, but lately I have been eyeing the
wonderfulness that is pink pyrex!
at one of my last stops I found the 401 blue I have been looking for
to complete my primary colors set
unfortunately this little guy is a part of the "newer" set
but it was in amazing shape, and I figured it will do for the time being
especially again for only $4
(I've decided that anything pyrex gets a $4 price tag at this particular thrift store)

and after all this, the only challenge I have is the constant re-arranging that occurs
with every new amazing find!

Pyrex loot!

Yummy Pyrex finds today ... barbed wire promotional divided casserole dish ($4.99); round cinderella casserole 474 in Autumn Harvest (Wheat Stalks) with lid ($3.99) and an Old Orchard round cinderella casserole 473 ($1.49) at GW.

A little while ago, I also picked up this great Pink Daisy Oval Open Baker (not thrifted, actually paid eBay prices for this one!)

I'm going to agree with other posters who seem to think that people are cleaning out their houses this spring... so happy to see Pyrex on the thrift store shelves again!
