new home, new pyrex displays

hello everyone!
 haven't posted lately
turns out having a baby, going back to work five months later,
moving into a new home, and finishing my masters [in june!]
can make for fewer pyrex posts - mostly because I'm still not on a regular hunting schedule
but, I do have something to share
a new home means displaying the pyrex collection in new ways
this corner window ledge is one of my favorite places in my new home
and as you maybe can tell, our new home was actually built right around 1950
so vintage pyrex was meant for this ledge!
I love having a dining room for my hutch
it seems quite small now that it is in a room, and not a hallway
I also love that I can see the majority of my collection from the main living space
something that was not true in our other home
even so, I still have a few pieces I cannot display
we lost three very large open shelves that our old kitchen had
and I'm really hating that our china and a few other pieces are hidden
I'll have to work on something for that soon
but for now, I can officially say I have moved my ninety+ piece collection
with no breaks, chips, or cracks
[I did spend a good penny on packing supplies however]

new dots kind of birthday

about ten years ago I started my collection of new dots
within a couple of years I had picked up the orange, yellow, and blue new dots
for great prices here and there
pyrex was so cheap then for us crazies - even while antiquing
and that was where the set stayed for years
recently I decided that I just couldn't go much longer without the green new dots
that would complete my set
I even joked with the mr. that it was a life goal of mine
to have that bowl by the time I was thirty
well, he took me very seriously
and guess what I got for my 28th birthday...
things are happy around here for sure

Thanksgiving

I hope those of you in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving on Thursday. (If you're not from the U.S., then I hope you had a great Thursday in general.) I was happy I got the chance to use some of my Pyrex this year!

So the pie was store-bought, but the whipped cream was homemade and served in a Blue Dots bowl... so that makes it okay, right? :)

Victory! The Green Dot is Finally Mine!

I am really late in sharing this news but it doesn't at all reflect on how happy I am to have this complete set.

My wonderful hubby bought the green dot bowl off ebay for me. He probably paid much more than I would have but he said it was worth it.

My happy collection!

My primary sets are together now
I still have plenty of items on my wishlist but every time I am in my kitchen, looking at these sets make me so happy.

happy thursday!

I am a new member of Pyrex Collective but have been collecting off & on for about nine years.  I always knew that I had a minor obsession with the beautiful brightness of all things pyrex, but until recently, I never realized how many others share in this obsession!  I currently have two patterns I collect.  When I was about 18 I started collecting the Spring Blossom pattern - green & flowers - I was in love.
Then came the Dots.  I only have three of the Dots bowls because in my experience they seem to be a tad harder to come across in good condition without paying a high antique store price!  I've also picked up a few random pieces here and there that are great for daily use.
And finally, the whole little family.  Well, almost.  I realized my small Spring Blossom casserole dish was left at my mother's house, and a few of my Spring Blossom mixing bowls are currently residing with a friend.  One thing I know for sure, Pyrex is amazing, but when you are a newlywed and still living in an apartment, a girl can only have so many mixing bowls!  One day the collection will get to live together again.

Thanks everyone for posting your newest pyrex finds & how you display your collection.  It has been a while since I have bought a new piece, but all the awesomeness on this collective has made me feel like a few more pieces are needed!

Thanks for reading!

Weekends Well Spent

I can't do much thrifting for Pyrex during the week. Is it wrong that these few months I have been collecting Pyrex that I LIVE for the weekend so I can hunt for more pieces?
I picked these pieces up a couple of weekends ago:

See my blog for more. Warning--photos galore!

Hope you all are finding great pieces this weekend!
