completing sets takes time

as all of you know, completing sets doesn't always happen overnight

some days I've gotten so lucky

and other times, it takes months to find that needed piece

well today, I completed two of my sets

I've needed the 402 Daisy since last black friday

when I picked up the other three bowls for only $5 at the Goodwill

and I think it has been even longer that I have needed

 the little 401 Butterfly Gold

I'm sure I have seen this bowl in my outings, 

I just think it was a piece I always forgot I needed

So today I decided that it was the day to bite the bullet

and stop searching for these guys while thrifting

and I got both pieces for under $10 at the local antique mall

all in all, I'm happy with these finds

and with the way some of my local thrift stores 

have been gouging their prices on pyrex

I'm thinking it wasn't too bad to get these sets done!

also, this week the husband and I celebrated four years of married life

the best way we know how - antiquing

and because he truly is awesome

he found me this piece, again, for super cheap

A very pyrex holiday

 It was a very pyrex holiday here at my house.
My parents bought me these two beautiful pieces back from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Hi Karin and Mark!) as Christmas presents. A lovely verde casserole with patterned lid! and my very sought after pink gooseberry fridigie! The gravy boat (sans underplate) was from my "inlaws". I was spoiled. My boyfriend even bought me the pyrex collectors book, although I'm still unsure as to whether he supports this addiction.

I replied to a message on kijiji and ended up scoring all this.
It belonged to the womans mother and the butterprint set had been a wedding present to her.
I love the history you get when you buy pyrex from people rather than from a store.

I got these three over two days from two different VVs.
A verde 043, a blue horizon and a friendship orange with daisy lid.

But, this was the best find of the holiday. Another craigslist find and I paid, get ready for it....
 FIVE DOLLARS! She's gorgeous, there's some scratches but they're all on the bottom. The woman I got it from said she got it as a wedding present in 1961. I think she's survived very well.

Everything tastes better in vintage Pyrex!

Hi folks! This is my first post on the Pyrex Collective II. I'm very excited with every new post that appears, and have been waiting until I had pics of my smallish collection before posting. I just LOVE the bright colors and patterns. Every time I use a piece of my collection, it just makes me happy. :)

As for the title of my post, here is part of what we are having for dinner tonight:

Cheesy potatoes in my newest acquisition - my Friendship fridgie! This was an antique mall purchase, but it was pretty reasonably priced, and in near perfect condition. I was super excited to see it, because Friendship is one of my favorites. I found a yellow daisy 2.5 qt. casserole with lid for $10 in the same booth. The fridgie was $15 (yikes).

Chicken in my snowflake garland lasagna pan. I hesitated about buying this one in a vintage store in my hometown, but it was PERFECT, and I know I'd have had a hard time finding this size while thrifting.

As for the rest of the collection, it's a little piecemeal so far, but here are a few more pics (I've since added a few more pieces). All of this came from garage sales, rummage sales, Goodwill, or Salvation Army.

butterprint and daisy

I found these two cinderella bowls at separate thrift stores last week. The smaller was $3 and the larger was $4. It's my first thrifted butterprint (I bought some butterprint fridgies on ebay once) as well my first yellow daisy (I think this belongs in the yellow daisy cinderella set, right?). I'm VERY giddy about my finds!

I'm a fan of cinderella bowls in general - I'm a bowl fiend!!
