Vintage Pyrex shines in the news!

I just had to pop in to share this article I just read, as it talks about newer Pyrex & Anchor Hocking compared with older, vintage pieces. Turns out, a recent study shows that vintage Pyrex is less likely to break and explode!

Here's a quote:
"‎"Not your grandmother’s Pyrex... Their article, published this fall in the American Ceramic Society Bulletin, concluded that the newer glass is far less able to withstand rapid swings in temperature than the older material, now used mostly in pans sold in Europe." "

Just one more reason to support our addiction, isn't it?

Merry Christmas!

  2. It is an interesting article. And it confirms what I have always suspected about the newer Pyrex. It simply is not the same product as the vintage.

And I have had 4 pieces of the newer glass explode for me too, back in the early 90's. Before I got on my crusade to buy the vintage stuff for daily use.

  3. I just read this yesterday! It's interesting to me though that people admitted they didn't follow the instructions for use, and then complained that their dinner was ruined because the glass shattered.
