Random Pyrex Question

Hello there fellow Pyrex lovers, I have a random question. I was window shopping on Etsy and ran across a Pyrex piece advertised as one of the small bowls that came in the hostess set...only it was white! Does anybody know anything about an all white hostess set? I was under the impression they only came in red, yellow and turquoise. Thanks for your help!

  1. I wonder if maybe it was one of those colors at one point in time but dishwashered to death? I've seen that happen with mixing bowls before where there is no evidence at all of the color they once were.

  3. no! There are white ramekins! I saw some at a store once right when i started collecting, but passed them up because they were just plain opal and not colored. They were definitely opal and not just discolored. It's one of the few things that I hate that I left behind.

  5. Quite possibly dishwashered.

The hostess bowls also came in a dusty rose colour. Someone made a post about one on here before.

  6. ooo and the plot thickens. I'm going to have to do a little bit of searching. Pyrexlove doesn't have an opal listed, or a dusty rose for that matter, under the hostess set. Thanks everybody so much for the info!

  7. Will do. I found a pic of the rose hostess set, and a couple of crown pyrex pieces that look very similar to the posting on Etsy. I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought it, (at 5 bucks even if it's faded I don't feel like I'm out much). It would be really awesome though if this turned out to be a piece of an opal hostess set.

  9. lol, I actually just found something similar at http://retrocollectable.blogspot.com/2009/05/set-of-6-agee-pyrex-festive-ware.html. I'm fairly certain it's the white one from this set. Really glad I went ahead and bought it. Thanks everybody for your help!

  10. Yes Agee & Crown Pyrex- the Australian Pyrex maker did have white ramekins! I'm in Australia & have seen them a few times at Op shops (thrift stores). I've always passed them up tho cos they're plain!

  11. I love the opal white pieces, I think they are so clean and crisp. I was almost convinced this was a piece from that set until I got it...it has made in the USA stamped on the bottom. So now I'm back to square one.
