New Holiday Display

Holiday Pyrex

Just thought I'd pop in really quick to show you my new "holiday display" of Pyrex! Before this, some of you may remember, I had all pinks & turquoise on my grandmother's hutch. I decided a few days ago that it would be a shame if I didn't break out the festive holiday Pyrex and display it for a while.

My favorite, as always, is the green "Merry Christmas" bowl in the center there. I love it!

But also featured is some Friendship, which can look very Christmasy in the right setting, and some Snowflake. I also brought out some of the Thanksgiving colors, like my Americana set and some Autumn Harvest. Finally, the Starburst at top makes for the perfect tree-topper-like crown, doesn't it? Reminds me of the star of Bethlehem. It's very cheery! I'll have a hard time taking it down come 2013...

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I can't wait to see some of your Pyrex at Thanksgiving posts :)

Cheers,

It's Been Awhile

So although I have been picking up pieces here and there, having the time to blog about them the second I get home is a completely different story.  Life just gets crazy and keeping up on my personal blog can be hard enough.  I have been doing really good at taking pictures of the things I  bring home but sharing them with all of you?  Not so much.  So, no more excuses.  It is not fair of my to deprive you all of the beautiful eye candy that we all know as Pyrex.

So here you go...

I splurged and bought myself this Scroll Cinderella bowl while on our annual girls trip in Bellingham, WA.  Sometimes it can be hard to buck up and pay antique mall prices but sometimes you just have to.  The odds of finding those more rare pieces in the thrift stores can be pretty bad.  And lets face it, if you do find them they may be priced like antique mall pieces.
I got this 024 Red Pine Cone bowl from my wonderful sister.  I now have 3 pieces of Christmas Pyrex.  I can't wait to use them.
I brought back this Rainbow Stripe 401 from Las Vegas when we went in August.  I bought it in an antique mall for $7.  How unheard of is that price?
This Horizon Blue refrigerator set is probably my best deal that I have found in quite a while.  When I first saw it in the antique mall booth, I didn't think anything of it.  The big dish was behind something else so I thought it was a Butterprint set (which I already have).  Then I got to thinking that the Butterprint set doesn't come with blue 501's & 502.  So I went back to it and realized it was a Horizon Blue set.  I was super excited because I had been watching the set on eBay for quite a while but of course couldn't ever find a good enough deal.  The best part?  The entire booth was 30%.  The seller had each piece priced individually and when all was said and done, I paid $13.00 for the entire set!

I still have more photos in the Pyrex folder on my computer so stay tuned Pyrex Buddies!

Until next time...

ocean filigree find

I am finding now that my collection has gotten pretty hefty
there are very few pieces I feel that I just have to have
I've loved the Ocean Filigree Casserole with Hugger Cradle for some time
but was pretty sure I would never see it in person
or never for a price I would pay
but today was apparently a lucky day
so here is the newest piece I'm swooning over in my kitchen
the colors just make me happy
and the plastic hugger cradle is SO different than any other Pyrex cradles
happy hunting everyone - today was most likely
my last pyrex hunting outing for a bit
[so why not go out big]
seeing as my due date for my first little one is looming
so I look forward to seeing all the lovelies everyone finds in the coming weeks

A little Yellow and Pink love...

It has been ages since I have purchased any vintage Pyrex... and then I came across these little beauties.

Check here for my deep thoughts on loving Pyrex... Farm Girl Pink....

Seriously, it had been since last Summer, that I had found any Pyrex that I felt the need to bring home...

A Rare Find?

Hi Everyone!

When you think of the 1-1/2 quart Butterprint Cinderella #442 you think of this, right?
Turquoise with white graphics.  This is the way it is supposed to look, right??
So then what is up with this #442 that is white with turquoise graphics?  When I found it at Goodwill today, it took me a few minutes to realize that what I had put in my cart was not the norm. I was buying it as backup in case the one I had broke.  But the one I had was turquoise with white!
Evidently I found something rare and for $3!!  Now I am on a mission to put together a complete white with turquoise Cinderella bowl set. Wonder how long that will take?

Until next time...

100 Pieces of Pyrex - Prints

So after many months I have finally set up a way to make my 100 pieces of Pyrex illustrations available. I set up my own Zazzle Store. I have added several versions of the 100 piece collection. I have also put a few note and greeting cards on there. I also ordered a print of the light blue version to make sure the quality was what I expected and it was fabulous. The poster is 12 inch by 12 inch, and it looks great in a floating frame that is 14 inch by 14 inch. You can also purchase it framed at Zazzle (I think), for an extra cost. Feel free to contact me if you would like a specific pattern in a poster or picture of it's own!.
