Merry Pyrex Christmas To Me!

Since my sister and I only started seriously collecting Pyrex almost a year ago, this is the first Christmas that we have actually exchanged Pyrex as gifts.  We both definitely went a little overboard with what we bought each other but you will hear no complaints from either of us!  Ready to see what my fabulous Sister put under my tree?

This Garland casserole dish is the perfect addition to my pink and turquoise collection.

Finally!  I am now the proud owner of a Pink Scroll Space Saver!

I know all of you eagle eyed Pyrexers out there spotted this beautiful Pink Butterprint dish in the background of the prior picture.  Yes, I do have the Best Sister in the World.  Enough said.

I will get Sister to post her Pyrex lovelies here soon. I'm sure you will all love them!

Until then, you can head over to our blog The Adventures of Two (Pyrex Crazy) Thrifting Sisters (And Their Sidekick, Maddie) to read more about our crazy adventures.

Happy New Year!

Merry Pyrex Christmas

My husband does not share my love of all things Pyrex. He has said on a few occasions that he would never buy me Pyrex as a gift. He thinks I have too much already and doesn't get my obsession. He sort of understands though, if he compares it to his own obsession with math and science books. So imagine my surprise when I opened up by Christmas present this morning and found this beautiful set of New Dots. It was on my list. I hoped he would get it. It was the set of Pyrex I coveted most.
It's lovely, don't you think? And it fits nicely on my primary sets shelf.
My dear knew just how to make my Christmas bright. Now we are preparing for a blizzard. Keep warm and make a snowman if you can! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Vintage Pyrex shines in the news!

Christmas fudge in Pyrex, recipe here
I just had to pop in to share this article I just read, as it talks about newer Pyrex & Anchor Hocking compared with older, vintage pieces. Turns out, a recent study shows that vintage Pyrex is less likely to break and explode!

Here's a quote:
"‎"Not your grandmother’s Pyrex... Their article, published this fall in the American Ceramic Society Bulletin, concluded that the newer glass is far less able to withstand rapid swings in temperature than the older material, now used mostly in pans sold in Europe." "

Just one more reason to support our addiction, isn't it?

Merry Christmas!

Red Hostess double duty!

I don't know about you all but pyrex has been hard to find in patterns I want and at prices I want to pay! I haven't found a reasonably priced piece in the wild in some time! It's sort of depressing! I was at the Vancouver Flea market and there was a lady selling some pyrex, she had the turquoise scroll bowl but she wanted $35 and wouldn't accept my offer of $25 so I guess it wasn't meant to be! And this is my point I'm so desperate for pyrex I'm willing to over pay! Hopefully things pick up soon!
I took some inspiration from the thrifter sisters and took some of my vintage ornaments and put them in my red hostess and set it on my mantle!
Here's hoping everyone is having better luck than me!

The Elusive Classic Butterprint Set

I've been collecting Butterprint for several years now. I even have the set of all-white Cinderella bowls and two of the orange ones, but I have just now acquired a set of the "classic" Butterprint bowls. I'm so excited!!!

I actually only found the two blue bowls yesterday, the white ones are borrowed from the all-white set. But the final product is the same! Now I just need to find two more white ones and I can display both full sets at once!

These are the other treasures I found yesterday:

The pink pie plate was at Goodwill for $1.99. It was coated in brown sticky grossness but after some serious scrubbing it is in pretty good condition after all!

I'm so in love with the lamp! There's a close up picture of the details here. It's just gorgeous!
