new dots kind of birthday

about ten years ago I started my collection of new dots
within a couple of years I had picked up the orange, yellow, and blue new dots
for great prices here and there
pyrex was so cheap then for us crazies - even while antiquing
and that was where the set stayed for years
recently I decided that I just couldn't go much longer without the green new dots
that would complete my set
I even joked with the mr. that it was a life goal of mine
to have that bowl by the time I was thirty
well, he took me very seriously
and guess what I got for my 28th birthday...
things are happy around here for sure

  3. I needed the green bowl forever, too. My husband was even going to pay a ridiculous amount for one at an antique show for me ($80.00!) because he knew how much I wanted it. I said no way and my patience paid off because I finally found the green bowl a very short time later at an awesome price. Between your husband giving you that awesome present for your birthday, and mine considering going into debt, we have some pretty awesome guys! Happy Belated Birthday!

    1. thank you Erica - he didn't quite spend $80, but way more than I could muster up to spend, and yes, men who support pyrex are not ones to get rid of!

  4. LOVE IT! I'm jealous of your complete set. I only have the green one that I stumbled upon for a ridiculously good price at an estate sale a few years ago.

  5. Wow, you've been collecting a long time! I'm 28, too, and have only been at it a year and a half.

What a wonderful set to complete! I NEVER see these bowls, except in horrible condition. Your set is wonderful.

    1. yes heather, I started young, I might have even been 16- my family was big on antiquing, and I found that this family tradition was way more fun when I had something to hunt for as well, and pyrex was where I started. like I said, back then I was able to get pieces for practically nothing, even antiquing!

it is SO sad seeing destroyed pyrex, I even saw the orange new dots that had been in the dishwasher so many times it almost looked pink, and the lady at the antique store was selling it for $25!!!! seriously?!?!?

  9. Lucky! I was expecting some Pyrex for my birthday, but I got literally f**k all. It was actually an extremely horrible, disappointing day. I wish it never happened.

Congrats on completing your set. I've only got the Blue Dots. It was expensive for a thrift store.
